The MUD Td5 Double DIN Console replaces the factory-fit 2002-2007 Td5 Defender radio fascia with our own exclusive one-piece design that allows you to easily upgrade the original single DIN radio set-up to a Double DIN head unit.The original Land Rover radio fascia fitted to 2002-2006 Td5 Defenders is a fragile unit prone to breakage thanks to a flimsy and poorly designed two-piece assembly that can barely support the weight of the single DIN head unit. Typically, the separate centre panel containing the head unit/radio will break loose from the main console.The MUD Td5 Double DIN Console is a simple DIY upgrade that uses the factory fixings and requires no cutting, drilling or modifications to be made to your dashboard. Simply remove your old console, replace with the MUD Double DIN Console and enjoy the benefits and features of the larger screens found on modern Double DIN head units such as Apple CarPlay & Android Auto screen mirroring as featured on our JVC KW-M565DBT and the new JVC KW-M785DBW with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android auto.The MUD Td5 Double DIN Console was engineered using CAD 3D scanning technology and uses an injection moulded manufacturing process for a factory fit appearance and a perfect fit every time.Another design detail we’ve incorporated is to increase the diameter of the recess that houses the standard cigar lighter style 12v socket. This increase in the recess diameter has been made to accommodate the popular Blue Sea marine grade power sockets. Blue Sea sockets have a slightly larger external diameter than the factory 12v socket. By increasing the diameter of this recess, this allows the Blue Sea socket housing to sit flush within the console fascia and present a much neater appearance to your power socket upgrade. Blue Sea sockets are available as a 12v socket or a USB socket as pictured below.The MUD Td5 Double DIN replacement console is equivalent to the Land Rover part numbers FWJ000110PMA (Black) & FWJ000110LQV (Brunel Silver), both of which are now obsolete and no longer available to buy from Land Rover Genuine Parts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I paint my console?

Yes! We supply the console in a Matt black finish to match as closely as possible the original dash. You can paint the dash any colour you'd like, either Brunel silver to match the XS dashboard, or the same colour as the exterior of your Defender. We always recommend you have your parts professionally painted to get the best possible finish.

Will my X,Y,Z head-unit fit the MUD Td5 Console?
When creating the MUD Td5 Console we discovered that there are variations in the size of Double DIN Head units. Whilst single DIN is an industry standard, double DIN is a general term for head units which are 'roughly' double in size. We therefore made the hole slightly smaller than the majority of double DIN head units in order for our console to accommodate as many head units as possible. We advise you take note of the measurements below before purchasing to ensure the console will fit your head unit. The hole can be trimmed in order to fit slightly larger head units. The dimensions of the hole in the MUD Td5 Console are 108mm x 180mm.

Can I fit extra switches into the MUD TD5 Double DIN Console?

The MUD Td5 Double DIN Console has no space for extra switches beyond the factory offering. You can however use the MUD Carling DIN switch mount to create room for up to six extra Carling Technologies switches when fitted with a Single DIN head unit. We recommend mounting the Single DIN head unit in the lower position when fitted with the MUD Carling DIN switch mount. No. The 2002-2007 dashboard differs from the pre-2002 model of Defender by using a one-piece dashboard tray/vent panel moulding that the radio console attaches to. Without this (now obsolete) dashboard moulding there is nothing in the earlier Defender to attach the MUD Td5 Double DIN Console to. The top row of switches in the 2002-onwards model uses a switch retainer housing (YUD000310PMA) that you need to transfer over to the new console from the old console. Without this switch retainer housing the switches have nothing to locate them. The switch retainer is available to buy from MUD UK, but start to add in the cost of the expensive Td5 factory switches and the cost of the conversion can easily get out of control!yud000310pmaMy original Td5 Console doesn’t have a radio fitted but instead has a large pocket where the radio would go. Can I remove this pocket and fit a Double DIN head unit into the space?

No. The hole in the factory console is not a Double DIN size.

What's in the box?

The MUD Td5 Defender Console comes complete with full colour instructions (see 'Resources' tab below). Note you will need to re-use the factory fixings and your existing switch retainer.

We know that when you shop online you want your order as soon as possible. Choose DHL shipping in the checkout and order before 2pm then you’ll get your stuff the next working day.

On smaller items we also offer a 2nd Class postage service. This normally takes 2-3 working days to show up at your door. If you’re in a rush go for the DHL option for a fully tracked service.

Big Stuff! Unfortunately, our Side Panels, Bulkhead Bars and longer lengths of Cargo Tracking are too big for DHL to handle. We generally use UPS or Fed-Ex but that’s on an ad-hoc basic so you need to order before 12 to get a next day service.

We charge the same rate to any UK address, which includes Highlands and Islands and Northern Ireland. We do this because we think its unfair to charge more just because you live remotely, lets be honest if we could, we’d live there too. In exchange please be patient if your parcel takes more than one day to arrive.

European Shipping

We use DHL to ship to all our European customers, this can range from a 1-5 working day service. The good news is most parcels arrive within 3 days of shipping. If you’re lucky enough to live in France, Germany or Belgium you might even get your parcel the next day.

Once you’ve ordered DHL will be in touch by email with tracking details. If you’ve chosen Royal Mail shipping then you should receive your parcel in around 10 working days (note this can be up to 28 working days).

Important information for customers within the European Union

Following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union there have been changes to import and export practices. Customers within the EU will no longer pay UK Tax. 

When the parcel arrives within your country you may be liable to pay both local VAT, import duty and admin charges. Please do not ask us to estimate the cost of any additional costs once the parcel has the left the UK. These charges are levied locally, they will vary from country to country.

As the buyer you are responsible for paying these charges, which must be paid before your goods are delivered. If you decline to pay the charges then the goods will be returned to us. Goods returned as a result of payment failure will be refunded. Please note we can only refund the cost of your original order. Delivery costs will not be refunded. Refused parcels may also levy re-entry fees into the UK, they will also be deducted from your refund. If you are thinking of rejecting a parcel due to customs charges, we strongly recommend you contact us first before you reject the parcel. 

If you require further information, we recommend contacting your local tax office.

Please Note: If you live in The Alps or somewhere equally beautiful and hard to get to, we might have to use DPD or TNT to deliver. They should be just as quick.

USA & Canada Shipping

American & Canadian customers can expect a 2-3 working day service with DHL, depending on whether your East or West Coast.  DHL will be in touch via email with all the info you need once you’ve placed your order.

Rest of the World Shipping

The good news is we ship to pretty much everywhere (we don’t ship to Russia, sorry!).

The best service to choose is DHL, most parcels are delivered within 4 working days. This service is fully tracked and DHL will email you with all the details as soon as they’ve collected your ‘stuff’

If your parcel is light enough, you’ll be offered Royal Mail shipping in the checkout process. This will be delivered locally by your nearest post office. We’ve found that some countries have better postal systems than others. It can take up to 20 working days for post to arrive, so if you are in a rush please choose DHL in the checkout.

Customs & Duties

All packages imported to your country may be subject to customs, taxes or other fees. You are responsible for all applicable customs, duties, taxes and fees charged by your government.

We cannot guarantee that you will or will not be charged any customs taxes or duties.

If you’re worried about possible charges please contact your country's customs office prior to purchasing for respective charges and rates on packages coming from outside of your country.

If you decline parcels locally due to customs duty/tax charges then the goods will be returned to ourselves. Note this will incur further charges which we will debit from your refund, this can often be more than the original customs charges so we would advise you not to do this. If you have made a mistake with your order/ cannot pay the import duty charges then please get in contact with us and we will try to work out the best way forward for you.

Note: Please don’t ask us to declare your goods as a gift, or to value your items at less than they are worth. We’d love to be able to help you out, but we don’t want to end up in jail!

Returns & Exchanges

You can return items that you are not happy with within 28 days from purchase. If you’d like to return something or you believe you have a faulty item please contact us via email and we we’ll do our best to resolve the issue with as little fuss as possible.

Once we receive your returned parcel, we will process everything accordingly and keep you updated via email. We aim to refund customers the same day that an item is returned. If you originally paid by PayPal then you should receive the refund instantly. However, if you paid by sage pay using a credit or debit card it can sometimes take a few days for refunds to be credited.

If you believe you have received something in error or a part is missing from your delivery please contact us immediately. Packing errors can only be rectified if we have been informed of the error within 28 days of the parcel being received.
