You don't need a big budget or a full rebuild to make a real difference to your Defender. These are the upgrades that Defender owners actually rave about once they've done them.
1. MUD Interior Trim Panels
Factory interior trim might have looked OK when it rolled out of Solihull all those years ago, but now 30 years later it may be looking tired at best, or have been removed completely at worst! MUD specialises in lovingly recreating interior trim panels to replicate the factory trim and breathe new life into the interior of your Defender. This ranges from panel trims and speaker housings to radio consoles and dashboard components. Our aim is always to make a panel that looks like it was always there, no leather trim for us, although if that’s your thing all our panels can be re-trimmed or painted to match your bespoke build.

One of the things customers like best about our kits is the extensive fitting instructions and hardware that comes with all our panels. When you buy from MUD you can trust that we’re dedicated to making fitting as easy as possible, we do that by providing all the fixings you need and comprehensive instructions for all the products we sell, plus if you need any further help then we’re only at the end of the phone or an email.
When replacing larger panels such as side panels customers often choose to also replace their worn-out headlining at the same time.
We offer comprehensive interior trim kits for:
2. Seat Rails
Seat rails were the very first MUD product. Tired of being folded in and out of his Defender Kev made his own seat rails and when word got around the land rover community everyone wanted some. The rest shall we say is history!
Seat rails are our number one recommendation for Defender drivers. The Defender cab has never been the most salubrious environment and this is one thing you can do to immediately improve your comfort levels whether that’s for an expedition or just so you can face your daily commute without needing to do Yoga before and after your drive!

Gain an extra 4” of legroom on Station wagons and Utility Wagons. If you have a van/ hard top model you’ll also need a bulkhead removal bar to get that extra legroom.
The seat rails are a super quick fix that you could do on your lunch brake and as ever with MUD you’ll be supplied with full colour fitting instructions and all the fixings required, we even include an Allen Key.
3. Audio Upgrades
Let’s face it Defenders are LOUD, and factory audio barely stands a chance against road noise, offroad noise, and that well loved diesel rumble. That’s why upgrading properly matters: the right Kenwood head units, Focal speakers, Kicker speakers, fascia consoles, and wiring hardware all need to work together seamlessly for sound that actually cuts through. All while keeping a clean, factory-style finish with no hacked-up dashboard in sight and replacing your factory speakers and head-unit isn’t as daunting as you might think…

Luckily, MUD stocks the good stuff: JVC and Kenwood head units and Focal or Kicker speakers built to make your Defender sound as good as it looks. We don’t just stock a ton of different options, we only stock Audio stuff we’d fit to our own car which is how we know what works and what doesn’t!
Plus here’s some small wins!
