Did you know that MUD can replace every conventional bulb lamp on your Land Rover Defender with an LED replacement? We can even replace the standard interior lamp and high level brake lamps with LEDs.
The ever popular traditional LED 73mm diameter Defender lamps are available in three different flavours. The coloured LED lamp lens version replicates the look of the traditional Land Rover lamps, while our clear and smoked lenses offer a stylish alternative.
If you want to upgrade your rear lamps to the larger 95mm North American Specification (NAS) style lamps, we offer the 95mm lamps in two different LED styles including the same OEM spec’ LED lamps that Land Rover fitted to its special edition Defender models such as the SVX, Fire & ice, X-Tec & Adventure.
If you’re swapping out your smaller 73mm lamps for the 95mm lamps you’re going to require mounting plinths to fit the larger 95mm lamps. You can buy cheap mounting plinths, but MUD only sells the Genuine Land Rover plinths whose unique design means the fixing holes align with the existing lamp fixing holes so there’s no drilling of the bodywork required. The 95mm LED lamps will of course fit straight onto the original factory fitted plinths used for the post 1998 round fog and reverse lamps.
Did you know that Land Rover never fitted LED indicators to any of its special edition models? We can provide you with just a pair of LED indicator/turn signals to complete the LED look at the back of your car. If you’re not sure, the clear lens indicators are always positioned in-board on special edition models, swapping places with the fog and reverse lamps. They look like LEDs but aren’t!
All of the lamps MUD sells are fitted with the correct ‘econoseal’ connectors so there’s no wiring required. Every lamp we sell is a true plug & play installation.
For the wing/fender mounted side repeater lamps we offer the replacement LED lamps by the respected German brand Nakatanenga.
Likewise the high level brake light is another Nakatanenga product that like the side-repeaters comes in coloured clear and smoked lens options to allow you to match up your front and rear lamps. Note that both the side-repeaters and the brake lamps we sell are complete replacement lamp units and not simply a drop-in LED bulb replacement.
The standard Defender headlamps have long been a Land Rover weakness so in order to try counter those tiring night-time drives we offer an LED headlamp upgrade by Trucklite. Trucklite is one of the world’s largest vehicle lighting manufacturers and were the very first company to develop LED headlamp technology. Trucklite’s latest SS/27 LED headamp features an integral daylight running light (DRL) with a ‘halo’ effect, that also doubles up as an integral indicator.The bright white light of the DRL automatically changes colour to amber when the indicator is switched on. The lamps are housed within an aluminium casing that’s rated to IP67 and the tough polycarbonate lenses should withstand stone chips and flying objects of the avian kind.
To make wiring the indicator and DRL easier we recommend using a pair of our piggy-back looms. The piggy back loom plugs in-line on the back of the indicator lamp. This now provides the extra power supply required to feed the indicator within the headlamp. Boring legal bit for UK drivers. VOSA regulations state that you can only have a maximum of one indicator per side at the front of any car. Whether you wire up the indicator within the Trucklite headlamp or disconnect the standard indicator is down to you.

Interior Lighting
MUD was the first company to offer a replacement LED Interior lamp for the Defender and our LED interior lamp remains one of our most popular upgrades. The MUD LED Interior Lamp utilises ceramic LED technology to provide 18 x more usable light than the traditional festoon bulb design and with a rating of 228 lumens is 400% brighter than the factory-fit Land Rover interior lamp.
