Replace your tired fascia

The original Land Rover radio fascia fitted to 2002-2006 Td5 Defenders is a fragile unit that’s prone to breakage thanks to a flimsy and poorly designed two-piece assembly that can barely support the weight of a regular single DIN head unit. Typically, the weight of the head-unit causes the separate centre panel to break loose from its fixings securing it to the main console.

One piece moulding

The MUD Td5 Single DIN Console’s single one-piece moulding creates a stronger and more durable mounting for the head unit. It also provides a convenient way of refreshing a tatty Td5 dashboard that have often been hacked about by previous owners.

Simple installation

Installation is a simple DIY swap-over that uses all of the original factory fixings and requires no cutting, drilling or modifications to be made to your dashboard. Simply remove your old console and replace with the MUD Td5 Single DIN Console.

Pair With

Here you'll find parts that relate to the product page you're currently viewing. They may be listed in the product description as additional components you will need, or simply a helpful suggestion for other parts along a similar theme.

Perfect fit

The MUD Td5 Single DIN Console was engineered using CAD 3d scanning technology and uses an injection moulded manufacturing process for a factory fit appearance and a perfect fit every time.

Add a USB or 12v Socket

One small design detail we’ve incorporated is to increase the diameter of the recess that houses the standard cigar lighter style 12v socket. This increase in the recess diameter has been made to accommodate the popular Blue Sea marine grade power that have a slightly larger external diameter than the factory 12v socket. By increasing the diameter of the recess, this allows the Blue Sea socket housing to sit flush with the console fascia and present a much neater appearance to your power socket upgrade. The hole in the console is the same as the factory 12v/cigar lighter socket. The diameter of this hole will need increasing very slightly (approx 1mm) to accept the Blue Sea style power sockets.

Extra switches?

If you’re looking to add extra switches, we’ve designed our own 3-gang switch mount to fit into the rectangular recess detail at the bottom of the Td5 fascia. Our 3-gang switch mount will accept the standard Land Rover switches fitted to the Td5 & Tdci Defender models. Note. The recess will need cutting out of the fascia first in order to fit the switch mount.

Switch Retainer

It's also worth bearing in mind that the top row of switches in the 2002-onwards model uses a switch retainer housing (YUD000310PMA).

When installing the MUD Td5 Console you need to removed the switch retainer from your old fascia and attach it to the MUD Console. See 'resources' section above for further information.

Without this switch retainer housing the switches have nothing to locate them. If your switch retainer is broken or you do not have one it is available to buy separately here.

FAQ Part 1

Do you offer a Double DIN option of this product?

Yes. You can find it here.

Do you offer the fascia panel in Silver to fit my XS spec Defender?

No.

Can I paint my console?

Yes! We supply the console in a Matt black finish to match as closely as possible the original dash. You can paint the dash any colour you'd like, either Brunel silver to match the XS dashboard, or the same colour as the exterior of your Defender. We always recommend you have your parts professionally painted to get the best possible finish.

FAQ Part 2

Will the Td5 MUD Single DIN Console fit the pre-2002 Defender models?

No. The 2002-2006 dashboard differs from earlier models of Defender by using a different dashboard tray/vent panel moulding that the radio console attaches to. Without this (now obsolete) dashboard moulding there is nothing in the earlier Defender to attach the MUD Td5 Console to.
