Space saving location

The MUD Heater Locker fits between the front seats under the cubby-box using the factory fixing points. The heater locker bolts into the factory cubby-box fixing holes. The pre-drilled holes within the lid of the locker match those within the base of the factory cubby box. It is also possible to fit the heater locker under an aftermarket cubby box such as the Britpart cubby box which comes undrilled so you can match the pre-drilled holes on the heater locker.

Fits the majority of heaters

The cut-out within the base plate of the MUD Heater Locker has been designed to match the standard footprint of all the common 2kw auxillary diesel heaters, e.g. Eberspächer, Webasto, MV Airo and Planar. The budget priced Chinese 2kw heaters typically found on eBay are all copies of the established brands so they too all use this same standard footprint.

Please note that this footprint will need transferring to the centre base plate in the Defender seatbox and the base plate will need cutting.

Air inlet

The slots within the front plate of the MUD heater locker provide the air-inlet.

Here you'll find parts that relate to the product page you're currently viewing. They may be listed in the product description as additional components you will need, or simply a helpful suggestion for other parts along a similar theme.

60mm pipework

The hole in the backplate of the heater locker will accept a range of standard outlet nozzles provided with the common 2kw heater kits that use 60mm diameter pipework. The smaller slot in the rear backplate provides an entry point for routing the wiring loom into the locker.

The hole in the backplate will also accept the standard sized 60mm diameter convoluted heater pipe should you wish to extend your heaters pipework.

75mm pipework

The majority of 2kw heaters use 60mm diameter pipework but we can supply alternative back plates to accept the 75mm pipework/heater outlet nozzles found within some kits and on some larger capacity heaters.

Raises cubby box

To work out how high the cubby box armrest will be with the locker in place, add the height of your cubby box (including any feet/runners) to the locker height of 140mm.

ARB compressor locker

If you’re looking for somewhere to mount the popular ARB On-Board Brushed Twin Air Compressor (ARB Part# CKMTA12) in your Defender then we’ve provided four additional fixing holes in the base of the MUD Defender Heater Box that correspond with the M6 fixing points in the bottom of the ARB compressor. The lid height of the MUD Heater-Box provides plenty of space for the compressor.

ARB compressor locker part 2

The large outlet in the back of the Heater Box allows you to route the air supply hose from the compressor to a convenient location. The ability to accept the ARB compressor dimensions was by accident rather than design, so you may wish to drill additional ventilation holes into the locker when using it for mounting a compressor.

Note: The ARB’s ‘Brushless’ Twin Air Compressor (ARB Part# CKBLTA12) uses different fixing points than the ‘Brushed’ version.
